Relais & Chateaux "Grand Chef" Joachim Koerper at Palheiro Estate
Casa Velha do Palheiro also hosted a gastronomic weekend on 26 and 27 November 2010.
The Casa Velha do Palheiro team of chefs was joined by world renowned Chef Joachim Koerper. Joachim is considered to be one of the Iberian peninsula’s best chefs having worked with restaurants totalling 14 Michelin stars including the restaurant Girasol in Andalucia, Spain. He is presently residing at one of Lisbon’s culinary landmarks – the legendary ‘Eleven’ restaurant.

Relais and Chateaux Golf Tournament
Casa Velha do Palheiro, Madeira, part of the Relais & Chateux collection of hotels, this year hosted the 4th Relais and Chateaux Golf Tournament on 24 October, a competition aimed at clients and business partners and supported by the companies Audi, Blandy’s, Vista Alegre, Fedex, Pommery, Nespresso, S. Pellegrino and the “Jornal de Negócios”.
The prize-giving ceremony was held in the enchanting setting of the hotel’s Palheiro gardens with approximately 100 guests present.

Palheiro Golf Krtek
The Palheiro Estate was the willing donor of a fantastic prize for the Krtek Charity Golf Challenge held at the Beroun Golf Resort, Czech Republic – a week’s stay for two people at the Estate’s beautiful hotel Casa Velha do Palheiro
At this years tournament Krtek (The Childhood Cancer foundation) raised € 21.500, the full amount which will be used in total for the summer holiday camp activities for 100 small patients and their siblings.

Palheiro Golf Oktoberfest
Palheiro Golf’s first Oktoberfest tournament came to an end on Saturday, 2nd October and what a great week it had been.
There were 3 competitions in total during that week and members and guests alike were shooting it out to get to the top of the leader board. The tournament week started with a Four Ball Better Ball, which was followed by a singles Stableford. The last competition was a 2 team Scramble, which was played on Saturday.

Balancal
On 21 October 2010 Palheiro Estate's motor Yacht ‘Balancal’, and a group of owners and guests from Palheiro Village sailed out of Funchal's marina in the early hours of the morning to greet the Queen Elizabeth on her maiden voyage and first ever visit to Madeira.
