Palheiro Golf Krtek

The Palheiro Estate was the willing donor of a fantastic prize for the Krtek Charity Golf Challenge held at the Beroun Golf Resort, Czech Republic – a week’s stay for two people at the Estate’s beautiful hotel Casa Velha do Palheiro.

At this years tournament Krtek (The Childhood Cancer foundation) raised €21.500, the full amount which will be used in total for the summer holiday camp activities for 100 small patients and their siblings.
The Krtek President Martina Smukova has written the following thank-you letter:

Dear Mr. Fletcher.
In the name of Krtek, the Childhood Cancer Foundation, I would like to express our deep gratitude for your kind long-term support. Krtek Charity Golf Challenge annually hosts nearly 90 golfers who all donate a significant amount of money to our foundation. The chance of winning your voucher for the beautiful Madeira golf holiday at Casa Velha do Palheiro is our symbolic thank-you for their generous support.
These days nearly 83% of the children diagnosed with cancer get a chance to return back to their normal life. Although this is a very optimistic number, oncology treatment is very demanding and leaves patients with many physical and/or psychological handicaps. That is where Krtek is trying to be useful – we organise various events for children and their families so they all have a place to share their experiences, worries and hopes, where they can seek help or just support one another. Our summer camps give children a chance to begin beautiful friendships and experience all the fun they have missed while going through their treatment in the hospital.
